What is a Virtual Winery?

Teatown Cellars does not own vineyards, a winery or any winery equipment, other than barrels. All of Teatown Cellars wines are produced on a contract basis. We source high quality grapes and wine from some of the best vineyards and winemakers in California.

The owner and operator worked in the wholesale wine business in New York for fifteen years, and was also a wine buyer for a high profile New York City restaurant for a number of years. Over the years he has developed many long-term personal relationships and friendships with growers, winemakers, and winery owners. With regular visits to California, Teatown Cellars is able to acquire premium quality varietal wine grown or made, (or both), by some of the best producers in California.

Production History

We produced our first vintages of Napa Valley Chardonnay and Napa Valley Merlot in 1997. In 1998 we produced 824 cases of Napa Chardonnay, and in 1999 were produced 800 cases of Napa Merlot.

Distribution has expanded to over 15 states, and we hope to double that number in the coming year. Our Merchants page has a growing list of restaurants and retailers offering Teatown Cellars wine.
